AmazonFresh: Time Saver & Budget Savior

My fFirst AmazonFresh delivery!

My first AmazonFresh delivery!

Last week we got our very first delivery from AmazonFresh, and today we got our second! Outside of the awesomeness that such a thing exists, we had two good reasons for giving it a try:

  1. To save us half a Sunday of grocery shopping.
  2. To help us stay within our allotted food budget.

Although I did enjoy our strategic couponing adventures, driving around to multiple stores to get the best deals took up most of our Sunday. Not to mention one additional evening per week dedicated to clipping and organizing coupons. Couponing was a big help the last couple years, getting us through some really tight times, but we’ve reached a point where saving time is worth more to us than stretching every penny as far as possible. (Hurray!)

I recently worked up a new family budget and am determined to do a better job of sticking to it. One area we’ve always had difficulty with is groceries. By shopping online, we can see our cart total(s) and adjust so that we always stay within budget. So far we’ve only explored AmazonFresh, but we will be adding a fruit & veggie delivery from Terra Organics once the Kent Farmer’s Market season is over. I’m also eager to check out Spud.com, since they have a variety of gluten-free vegan foods, including goodies from the Flying Apron bakery in Seattle. Our dollar may not go as far, but staying on track each month will save us money too.

All in all I’m eager to see if this brave new world of grocery shopping will save us both time and money. In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy my first rice cooker courtesy of AmazonFresh!
