My Epic Wait for Wild Arms 4 is Finally Over!

Wild Arms 4 is here!

Due to more demand than supply on Goozex, I’ve been waiting for my turn to get Wild Arms 4 for 5+ years now. Crazy, I know! If you aren’t familiar with Goozex, it’s a neato video game (and movie) trading site that gives you a much better trade-in value through the use of a point value system. First of all, let me say that this long of a wait isn’t the norm. The majority of titles have sufficient supply for a reasonable wait time or more supply than demand resulting in instant trade matching. Second, if you haven’t tried it, you should! Half or more of the games I’ve acquired since joining have come from Goozex trades with minimal out of pocket cost ($3-4 each). 🙂 Now back to Wild Arms…

The Wild Arms series is one of my all-time favorites. When my husband and I were dating, he had the original Playstation while I was sadly lacking in game systems. (I gave away my original NES when I was 14. At the time I thought girls didn’t play video games and guys wouldn’t be interested in girls who play video games. I found out 2 years later how wrong I was.) Anyway, we were browsing in a game store when I came across Wild Arms. I was interested in it and Grant said someone he new liked it. I don’t remember if he bought it or if I did. What I do remember is weighing the risk of getting a game for a system that wasn’t mine, because what if things didn’t work out between us? Clearly, I had nothing to worry about, and Wild Arms became one of the very first games I ever beat (if not the first!). I have been a fan of the series ever since it became a series and I’ve been working my way through it ever since.

Today, I started Wild Arms 4 and played about 20 minutes into it. The music was sooo Wild Arms and brought back good memories. I felt happy, content, and eager. I didn’t plan to play very far, though, because if memory serves I am still in the middle of Wild Arms 3 (maybe even 2! Bad gamer!). Tomorrow during lunch I plan to figure out where I left off and pick it up again. Wild Arms 4, here I come!

It works!

It works!

Wild ARMs 4 is a pretty decent addition to the series. Some of its better traits include great music, good voiceacting and a pretty ambitious battle system. Sadly, it’s quite linear (not really a bad thing if you ask me, but many gamers disagree) and some of the plot elements are -really- stale on hindsight. Still, it’ a pretty good game.

I’m also a diehard fan of this series. Wild Arms 2 is still one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Sadly, I don’t think this game series is going to continue anytime soon. =(

I’m enjoying it so far. I’m only a couple hours in, so my enjoyment at this point is mostly based on having more Wild Arms goodness rather than the game itself.
